Kia Motors adds SX appeal to the Rio

Kia has added a touch of luxury to the compact Rio with the introduction of a limited edition SX model in New Zealand.

With only 100 vehicles available nationwide the Rio SX is expected to race out of Kia dealerships.

Among the features added to the Rio SX are leather upholstery and privacy glass, giving the cabin a more superior feel and appearance. Also included in the list of Rio specifications on the SX are LED daytime running lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

“Rio is one of the best-selling models in the Kia range worldwide and we are celebrating its continued success with this special limited edition,” says Todd McDonald, General Manager of Kia Motors New Zealand.

A dynamic and distinctively designed car, the Kia Rio combines economy with the practicality and space of a five-door hatch. Its dynamic styling is acknowledged as among the most eye-catching in its class.

While it might be compact on the outside, the designers at Kia have cleverly made use of the long wheelbase and width of the car to create a very spacious interior for the driver, passengers and their luggage.

Like all models in the Kia Motors lineup, the Rio SX is packed with equipment, including reverse warning sensors, cruise control, auto light control, air-conditioning, remote locking with in-built car alarm, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, four-way steering column adjustment, split folding rear seats, rear luggage cover, smartphone Bluetooth connectivity and an audio system with USB and AUX ports.

The new Rio SX is powered by a highly efficient four cylinder 1.4-litre petrol engine and available in automatic transmission with sequential gear shift. This engine is an all-aluminium, 16-valve, twin-cam unit, featuring performance-enhancing, continuously variable valve timing and multi-point fuel injection to provide an ideal balance of performance and economy.

The suspension is based on European specifications, with the emphasis on handling and an assured ride. Brakes are discs all-round, and in addition to the safety of ESC stability control, Rio features Hill-start Assist Control to prevent it momentarily rolling backwards when pulling away on steep roads.

The recommended retail price for the new Kia Rio SX is $25,990 + ORC, but the newcomer is available at participating dealers for a special price of $21,990 + ORC while stocks last.

As with all Kia passenger vehicles sold in New Zealand, the Rio SX benefits from a 5-Year/100,000km warranty programme and 24-hour roadside assistance.
