The active front headrests move forwards and upwards within milliseconds of the moment of impact to cushion the head and prevent whiplash.

Dual Front, Side and Curtain Airbags

The Optima features a comprehensive Airbag System as standard.  Front and Side Airbags protect the front seat occupants in both Front and Side Collisions whilst full length Curtain airbags will deploy in severe lateral impacts.

Rear Parking Sensors

Reversing sensors are an aid that makes a audible noise as the driver gets closer to an object. The tone will increase in intensity as the drivers gets close to any object.  This is also supplement by a display in the instrument cluster.

Reversing Camera

The rear view mirror uses an inconspicuous 130-degree rear-mounted camera to determine risk factors behind you when reversing. Guidelines are also displayed to give further assistance whilst reversing. The mirror also has electrochromic function which automatically dims headlight glare from following vehicles.

Front Safety Power Windows

As a safety measure if any obstructions occur whilst the power windows are closing the window will stop its movement and will reopen.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)

Electronic Stability Programme - Rated by the NHTSA as what could be the greatest safety innovation since the safety belt, ESP compares the movement of your car with steering wheel inputs. If there is any tendancy to slide or skid, the system is designed to brake one or more of the wheels and, if passenger vehicles have a 30% reduction in fatal single vehicle crashes when equipped with ESP.
