Six Airbags

The airbag system is an effective active safety measure, which will deploy during side or front impact to cushion the force on the occupants.

Active headrests

The active headrests move forwards and upwards within milliseconds of the moment of an impact to cushion the head and prevent whiplash.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)

Rated by the NHTSA as what could be the greatest safety innovation since the safety belt, ESP compares the movement of your car with steering wheel inputs. If there is any tendancy to slide or skid, the system is designed to brake one or more of the wheels and, if necessary, reduce the engine power. The NHTSA has reported that passenger vehicles have a 30% reduction in fatal single vehicle crashes when equipped with ESP.

Anti - lock braking system (ABS) with EBD

ABS Braking is an important feature in modern day vehicle safety. The system reduces the risk of braking lockups by allowing the ecu to modulate the braking when under emergency situations. Such is its importance is that Kia fits ABS Brakes as standard on all it's new passenger vehicles.

Seatbelt pretensioners

Seatbelt pretensioners preemptively tighten the seatbelt in the event of collision to prevent the occupant from jerking forward during a crash. In addition they lower the risk of the occupant "submarining" which is when the passenger slides forward under a loosely worn seatbelt.

Reverse Warning Sensors (SX Model Only)

Reversing sensors are an audio aid that makes a beeping noise as the driver gets closer to an object.
Once the driver is dangerously close to the object a solid flat beep will occur thereby reducing the risk of a collision with an object behind them.
